First IR has long played a key role in the area of employment relations for businesses operating in agriculture. Our clients include Pastoralists, Shearers, Cattle Stations, Crop growers and Cotton-ginners.
First IR has worked with many of the major pastoral companies including the former Stanbroke Pastoral Company, NAPCO, AA Co, Heytesbury Beef, Australian Country Choice and Consolidated Pastoral as well as many other Cattle Stations throughout NT, QLD and WA.
First IR has a direct relationship with National Grazing Services, the largest shearing contractor in the country, and a large variety of labour hire companies that operate in the primary industry sector. Similarly, First IR has a professional working relationship with both the Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association (NTCA) and the National Farmers Federation (NFF). In 2009 and 2010 First IR assisted both the NTCA and the NFF on the award modernisation of the Pastoral Industry Award 2010.
Also in 2010 we have been instrumental in the development of flexible labour practices in feedlots, the provision of Day Rates in the Cattle Industry Agreements, and establishing competitive terms and greater flexibilities in Enterprise Agreements in general. In short, we are involved in many facets of the sector, have a strong understanding and a proven track record.
